After Neymar's £198m release clause was met by PSG, Klopp believes Messi's extortionate figure is no longer out of reach for the most ambitious clubs.
Speaking to 'DAZN', Klopp said, 'it's pretty simple. Until now it was simply seen as impossible. Then there is the list, with the release-clauses for Barcelona. Leo Messi, €300m.'
'In a period of just a month that suddenly sounds possible too. That used to be an outrageous amount. They just set that amount randomly. I mean who would pay €300m. And now it simply happened.'
Klopp is known to be against the huge fees that clubs are paying for world class players in the modern game. The Reds are currently fending off serious interest from Barcelona for playmaker Philippe Coutinho, with the Spanish giants prepared to pay up to £110m for his services.
The Brazilian will not take part in Liverpool's opening Premier League game against Watford on Saturday afternoon due to a back injury.
