Udom Emmanuel's Economic Diversification Model: A Panacea for Nigeria's Economic Woes
On May 29th, 2015, history was made at the Nest of Champions, when the fourth democratically elected Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel was sworn into office after Govs Isemin, Attah and Akpabio.
Upon being sworn in, Gov. Udom Emmanuel pledged a five-point agenda of: wealth creation: economic and political inclusion, poverty alleviation, infrastructural consolidation and expansion and job creation.More than seven years into his eight years of two term tenure, he has not just demonstrated in locution that he was grateful and thankful for the honour done him by choosing him amongst the many Akwa Ibom Sons and Daughters that slugged it out with him in the Gubernatorial contest, he matched same with salutary consolidation and expansion in line with his agenda in reciprocation of the honour and public trust.
Through his wealth of experience in investment banking business, he has succeeded in changing the civil service and mono economic status of the state to a diverse economic state where revenues could be generated from the efficiently and effectively thriving aviation, agricultural, industrial,Tourism, small, micro, and macro enterprise activities under a very secure environment that guarantees safety of human life and properties.
These sectors create opportunities for the citizens and residents to be gainfully employed or engaged independently as employers of labour.For instance, the giant strides in partnering with BUA to build the State Teaching Hospital with an upfront payment of two Billion five hundred million naira and Giwa FZE to build a Sterling Petrochemical and Fertilizer Production plant, in addition to the functioning Coconut, Flour Mill, Syringe, Tissue, Pencil Factories with Ibom Deep Seaport, Qua Iboe Export Hub all loading, make patriotic Akwa Ibomites believe that happier days lay ahead of the state.
Ibom Air, Victor Attah International Airport Digital Terminal, Maintainance, Overhaul and Repair Hanger, Dual Tax-way, Uyo Capital Development Commission and Dakkada Secretariats, the Isolation Center with a Medical Gas and Vacuum plant, Traditional Council Complex with an official residence of the Chairman, Council of Chiefs, Remodelled Education and Health institutions, and road infrastructural renaissance are remarkable evidences of good leadership and governance which Nigerians are begging for at the National Level.
These strides have turned our dear state into an industrial Hub, an Entrepreneurship incubation center where over 30 Billion Naira is generated yearly above projected internally generated revenue through a rebranded and motivated Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Agency.Today, the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who is the architect of this has enjoyed goodwill from many lovers of good leadership and governance, that is why he has been singled out amongst his equals to be one of the best Governors in recent time who can replicate his diversification template for Nigeria as the President in 2023 in order to restore Nigeria's lost economic glory.
So, with your massive support, he will emerge victorious in the forthcoming primary Election and come May 29th 2023, history will repeat itself as Mr Udom Emmanuel will be sworn in as the President of Nigeria for the sake of one agenda, Economic Diversification of Nigeria.
